Cytokine Release Syndrome (2/4)

Last updated on: 10/18/2024

What is given to prevent CRS?

While in the step-up dosing phase, about 1-3 hours before your dose, you should receive the following pretreatment medications

Corticosteroid (oral or intravenous dexamethasone 16 mg)

Histamine-1 (H1) receptor antagonist (oral or intravenous diphenhydramine 50 mg or equivalent)

Antipyretics (oral or intravenous acetaminophen 650 mg to 1000 mg or equivalent)

Potentially:

Tocilizumab (not widely adopted by shown effective through real world data)

Patients who experienced CRS during their first dose of bispecific antibody or those who missed a dose in their regular schedule may need to take pretreatment medication before they receive their weekly doses. Additionally, patients who repeat doses within the step-up dosing schedule following a dose delay may also require pretreatment medication.
