Myeloma Crowd Research Initiative: COVID-19 and Multiple Myeloma Study image

In April of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in full force, we launched a study to determine the impacts COVID-19 has had on myeloma patients. Within four weeks, over 1,100 patients had participated. The study was led by myeloma experts Dr. Rafael Fonseca, Dr. Faith Davies, Dr. Caitlin Costello, Dr. Ola Landgren, Dr. Mike Thompson and Dr. Ivan Borrello to better understand which myeloma patients are most at risk and how they are being affected by the virus.

As the pandemic has extended over a longer period of time than anyone anticipated, during the rest of 2020 and into 2021 we will follow each of the patients in the study and ask follow up questions to determine the long-term impact of the virus on patient care and outcomes. We will track patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and understand their outcomes.

Using HealthTree, myeloma patients will be able to help inform one another in a constantly changing coronavirus landscape.

The anonymous answers will be aggregated and analyzed by myeloma researchers to identify recommendations that will help all myeloma patients know how best be protected and effectively treated for both COVID-19 and their myeloma.

Please donate to this important study and continue in the study if you were a prior participant. If you would like to join the study, all MGUS, smoldering myeloma and multiple myeloma patients are welcome. To join the current study, click here.
