10. Learn

Educated and empowered myeloma patients live longer.  Rather than searching the internet, learn directly from myeloma specialists. Over 75 experts have contributed to classes in HealthTree University, the worlds largest platform for myeloma education.  The Myeloma Crowd Round Table events and the Myeloma Crowd Radio show also allow you to learn directly from top myeloma experts on a variety of topics.

9.  Meet other myeloma patients or caregivers

Myeloma is a complex disease. Talking and learning with others who can relate to what you are experiencing can make a significant impact.  The Community Events program coming in 2021 will allow you to attend chapter meetings on a variety of topics to learn and meet others in the myeloma community.  The Myeloma Coach program connects you directly with other patients or caregivers who can offer shared experience and share resources.

8. Track your disease

The complexity of myeloma requires knowledge and awareness to stay one step ahead and be prepared to make critical decisions. Use the HealthTree Cure Hub to not only track your myeloma, but also identify personally relevant treatment options, as well as clinical trials you are eligible to join.

7. Accelerate research

You can do your part to accelerate myeloma research to work towards a cure by completing myeloma researcher surveys and joining studies in the HealthTree Cure Hub.

6.  Improve your physical health

Staying physically, mentally and emotionally fit improves quality of life with myeloma.  The Muscles for Myeloma program offers support and resources to work towards improved health and wellness. Start the New Year off by setting SMART fitness goals- by participating in this Myeloma Crowd Community event  on January 5th.

5. Find resources

The Myeloma Crowd website offers helpful resources on a variety of topics to help support your life with myeloma. Find resources for financial and patient assistance,  insurance premium expenses, legal assistance, prescription and travel assistance. Visit the website frequently for regular updates on myeloma news.

4. Find a myeloma specialist

Data shows that patients who have a myeloma specialist on their team live longer.

3. Find your myeloma twin

The HealthTree Cure Hub allows you to find your “myeloma twin” by genetics, type of myeloma or prior therapies (coming soon).

2. Find one on one support

The Myeloma Coach program offers personalized, one on one support directly from someone who can relate. Coaches (patients or caregivers) want to give back by offering shared perspective, experience and helpful resources. Find a Coach with experience in the area you need (financial resources, insurance, physical health, stem cell transplant, clinical trials, how to become your best advocate, etc. ), and connect with them in the way that works best for you (phone, email, video chat).

1. Know you are not alone

Having individuals to talk to who relate, understand and offer shared experience can empower you to move ahead in unfamiliar territory. You will meet the kindest people in the myeloma community who have the desire to help those around them.   In this time of physical distancing, and isolation you do not have to face myeloma alone.  Join the Myeloma Crowd Community!
