Honoring Black History Month: Third Annual Roundtable Announcement image

As we celebrate Black History Month, we must acknowledge both the remarkable achievements of Black Americans in medicine and healthcare and the ongoing work needed to address persistent health disparities in our communities.

Multiple myeloma stands as a stark example of these disparities, with Black Americans being twice as likely to develop this blood cancer compared to other demographics, while often facing barriers to early diagnosis, clinical trial access, and optimal treatment.

Understanding the Impact

The statistics tell a compelling story: multiple myeloma not only affects Black Americans at higher rates but they are often diagnosed at a younger age and face more challenges in accessing cutting-edge treatments. Despite scientific advances that have dramatically improved myeloma outcomes in recent years, these benefits have not been equally distributed across all communities.

The Future of Black Myeloma: A Critical Discussion

We are proud to announce our 3rd Annual Black History Month Roundtable on Thursday, February 27th, at 2:00 PM Eastern.

This event will feature distinguished myeloma experts who will lead a comprehensive discussion on the evolution of myeloma care in the Black community. This focused session will explore crucial developments and strategies that have emerged since our last gathering.

Our expert speakers will address:

  • Recent advances in treatment approaches and immunotherapy outcomes specific to Black patients
  • Progress made in addressing healthcare disparities since our previous roundtable
  • Practical strategies for improving access to cutting-edge therapies within the Black community
  • Current challenges and solutions in ensuring equitable care delivery

Mark your calendar and join us for this important discussion that will shape the future of myeloma care in the Black community.
