It's Time for Myeloma Cures

“When I was out of treatment options, I used HealthTree Cure Hub to find a potential treatment for my genetic type of myeloma. Initially, my local oncologist initially refused to give it to me, but because I brought a specialist onto my care team, my specialist was able to convince my local doctor to use it. I’m now in remission. I want to say that HealthTree saved my life.” Steve
“HealthTree has given me the tools to learn more about my myeloma diagnosis back in May of 2023. I’m very grateful for all the amazing information given on their website.” (Manuel)
“The [webinars] program is my favorite. It helped me understand my disease and feel like I wasn’t alone during one of the scariest times of my life.” - Lucy
“Thank you for the add! In less than 24 hours after joining this community has been a blessing and bounty of wisdom! So grateful! 🙏🏾💗💪🏾 I’m already loving it here! Why did I wait so late?! Y’all have already given so much wisdom and support- a true village!”🙏🏾💗💪🏾 (Taita on our Black Myeloma Health chapter)
“Thank you all again for your time and help with our cataract research project. Given that the American Journal of Hematology only accepts papers with an impact factor of 13, I was not expecting them to take this. What a wonderful surprise, and good proof of how important this project is! Thanks to the HealthTree team for letting us investigate these data.” (Rahul Banerjee, MD, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center)
The HealthTree Story
I created the HealthTree Foundation in 2012 (formerly Myeloma Crowd) because, as a patient, I saw gaps that needed to be addressed and knew that shared data could advance a myeloma cure.
When people ask us how we funded the amazing 14 software tools and programs we’ve developed over the last 11 years, my husband jokes that it came from our kids’ college funds. He says it in jest, but it’s true.
Our family was the only funding source for the first 4 years, and I donated my time to the Foundation without a salary for the first 8 years.
We receive some industry support to run our educational and community programs, but the majority of the funding for HealthTree Cure Hub has come from a small number of generous donors who understood the potential that data could bring for faster cures.
Why We're Asking You to Donate Now
As you may have noticed, we rarely asked our HealthTree community to donate over the last 11 years. We were too busy building technology tools that could contribute to the advancement of a myeloma cure instead of creating runs, walks, or other traditional fundraising activities.
Now that a comprehensive HealthTree model is in place and with your help, we are ready to perform dozens of research projects for myeloma investigators using our new HealthTree Research Hub.
Myeloma researchers are now able to submit their research ideas, and we will then prioritize those projects and perform as many as we are capable of doing with our research team.
We need your help to fund these projects. 100% of your donation will be used to complete projects to answer critical questions such as:
- How should immunotherapies be sequenced?
- What are the most effective treatments for newly diagnosed patients?
- Can patient risk be identified through the study of genetics at diagnosis?
- What CAR T cell therapies are best for individual patients?
Funding these projects can lead to new answers in the investigative myeloma research field, leading to a cure for each myeloma patient, no matter what type of disease they have.
From now until the end of the year, every donation will be matched, by a generous patient donor, up to $50,000.
Please donate to and/or start a holiday fundraising campaign - 50 days to $500K for a myeloma research campaign - today.
