Patient Power: Patient Matt Goldman Climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro

In February of 2018, myeloma patient Matt Goldman and a team of patients from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) ascended 19,000 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa. He is an example of miracles that can happen when treatment is effective and dreams are made plans.
This fundraiser quickly became an adventure that Matt and others would never forget. He tries to hold events like this each year to remind himself that he is still capable. When the group reached 17,000 feet, Matt struggled to breathe because of the lack of oxygen in the air from the high altitude. He has been receiving treatment monthly since last November.
Not everyone can physically hike 19,000 feet--but Matt teaches us that a multiple myeloma diagnosis does not have to hold us back from great physical goals and accomplishments. Each step we take or each day we get out of bed means we're fighting back against the awful disease that has invaded our lives.
