Why Jim Lubinsky Uses HealthTree Cure Hub for Myeloma Research
The following account was written by Jim Lubinsky, myeloma patient and HealthTree Coach.
When HealthTree Cure Hub was first introduced six years ago, I started to enter my data into the system and suddenly realized that they were asking for some very detailed information about my health record.
I paused entering but soon after received the invitation to participate in an unveiling of HealthTree Cure Hub at our local library.
When I arrived, there were about 25 people in the room, along with Jenny and Paul [Ahlstrom] and some of their children. Jenny spent time talking about HealthTree Cure Hub and, in particular, why it was being built and how our information would be protected.
Jenny was truly sincere and had everyone's best interest in mind in setting up the HealthTree Cure Hub program.
At that point, we all sat there in the room and, with the help of the Ahlstrom family, began setting up accounts and entering our data into the system as we felt this was certainly a worthwhile program.
I remember commenting to Jenny,
"I'm surprised how few people showed up for this unveiling and that the room should be filled with my myeloma patients because of what Jenny was working to accomplish".
Sometime later, I discovered that the Columbus, Ohio presentation was the first on a nationwide tour to introduce this groundbreaking database.
I believe there are now 13,000 patients participating today, and the database is now moving to the size where researchers will begin using the data to find patterns and characteristics that will help us as patients receive more effective treatments.
Since these early days, HealthTree Cure Hub has made substantial leaps forward and can now be set up to automatically load your data from your provider's website.
Because most providers participate in EPIC, also known as MyChart, or one of the other major medical database systems, HealthTree Cure Hub can interface with those systems and retrieve our data automatically. All you need to do is set up an account and authorize the retrieval of data.
Yes, this database has grown to the size that researchers will be inclined to use it for the benefit of all of us patients. I highly recommend you join HealthTree Cure Hub today.
