What Does a Myeloma Cure Mean to You? image

What does a myeloma cure mean to you?

Does it mean tolerable therapy without a growth in your myeloma? Or the absence of all treatment with stable disease? Or is it something else?

Huntsman Cancer Institute myeloma researchers Manni Mohyuddin, MD and Douglas Sborov, MD want to understand what the term myeloma “cure” means to you.

Answer the 4-Question Myeloma Cure Survey

Despite dramatic advances in myeloma treatments, patients still relapse frequently and are still dying of myeloma. Even as more myeloma patients become minimal residual disease (MRD) negative, we know that being MRD negative doesn’t necessarily mean we are cured.

In CML (chronic myelogenous leukemia), the idea of a “functional cure” was defined by CML patients who had no evidence of disease but stayed on therapy indefinitely.

There is little in myeloma literature about the patients’ perspective on a myeloma cure.

We want to hear from you! Please answer this 4-question survey to share what a myeloma cure means for you. Drs. Mohyuddin and Sborov will use your answers to define the patients’ perspective on a myeloma “cure.”

Our goal is to have over 1,000 patients respond to the survey. Thank you in advance for helping define such an important concept in myeloma research.
