The Power of Personal Connection: The Myeloma Coach Summit

The annual Myeloma Coach Summit was recently held with Coaches attending both in person and virtually. This multi-day event is a time for Myeloma Coaches to come together to connect, learn and have fun along the way.
Coaches participate in interactive training, education, and feedback sessions. Training is focused on improving skills as a Coach, increasing understanding of resources, and myeloma. The final day of the event is filled with education from myeloma specialists.
While gathered, Coaches shared some of the many reasons they chose to become a Myeloma Coach.
"I became a Coach because I was compelled to give back for the many people who helped me."
"I became a Coach because I didn't have one, and I was scared to death by what the internet said. I like to give patients a good place to find good info which in turn gives hope and eases the fear of what does this mean for me."
"I became a Coach because I have a strong need to give back. It is part of my retirement strategy."
Those who attended in person enjoyed meeting other Coaches, forming connections, and returned home having made new friends.
The Myeloma Coach Summit was a reminder of the power of connection. When we meet new people who have shared experience and are working toward a common goal, connections are made quickly. These connections are seen frequently by individuals who connect through the myeloma coach program. As Myeloma Coaches connect with others living with myeloma their shared perspective, and experience often forms a quick bond allowing personal support to be offered and received.
If you are living with or caring for someone with myeloma and would like to share your experience- consider joining our team and become a Myeloma Coach. Your willingness to share your personal experience and the resources that have helped you can make a significant difference in another’s life.
