What is HealthTree University?
HealthTree University is a full curriculum about multiple myeloma. It will include over 30 courses and 600 lessons on a wide range of multiple myeloma topics. an online set of courses that aim to help educate patients and those affected by myeloma about different multiple myeloma topics. It includes easy-to-follow videos and quizzes to help solidify new knowledge. It's important to have a basic understanding of myeloma topics in order to have better conversations with your doctor and healthcare team about the best treatment and line of care for you. It also enables you to make better decisions for yourself--to be your own myeloma advocate!
Lesson 1: What is multiple myeloma?
Myeloma experts Ola Landgren, MD, PhD, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Morie Gertz, MD, of the Mayo Clinic Rochester, simply define multiple myeloma. They include myeloma statistics, myeloma risk levels, ways the disease manifests itself in the body, genetics, subtypes and more.
Peter Voorhees, MD, of Levine Cancer Institute describes myeloma symptoms, also known as CRAB criteria. Shaji Kumar, MD, of the Mayo Clinic Rochester addresses causes of plasma cells to become cancerous.
A simple animation describes myeloma, along with different treatments available and important myeloma tests.
