Have you ever participated in a 5k (or longer) race? They are super fun and not all that hard-- you can walk or run at your own pace. Adrenaline alone would carry you to the end, if nothing else. Whether you've done a 5k before or not, Spring is the perfect time to sign up. It'll give you an incentive to get outside and get moving-- and support myeloma research! Right now, we are calling for Team Captains for Muscles for Myeloma around the country to join existing events or races. Here's how it works: 1. Find a popular race, like a 5k walk/run, you'd like to join any time in March or April 2016 on Active.com or other websites you know of. (Though run/walk events are the most common and feasible but, if there's a bike or swim race, a bowling event, or even a swim challenge, those are also great options.) 2. Contact the event coordinator and ask if you can start a Muscles for Myeloma team. (Some events don't have team registrations and some do.) 3. Email info@crowdcare.org with a link to the race you'd like to captain. We'll create a page on the Myeloma Crowd Site and a team page on our Muscles for Myeloma campaign. Once that's done, we'll let you know and send you a link to the newly-created team page. 4. Promote the event by sharing the race link with your friends, family, co-workers or other groups. Encourage them to join your team. At the Myeloma Crowd, we will also help you promote your event by sending you a custom flyer you can distribute. We will also have a link to your team page on our web site and will give it its own Facebook post and Twitter push. 5. Select a meeting place at the event for your team to meet together prior to the race. You should wear your Muscles for Myeloma t-shirts so it's easier to find each other (as a team captain, you automatically get a free T!). 6. This is optional but very fun: Consider selecting a restaurant to meet up for dinner the night prior or a place to have lunch after  the race (everyone goes dutch). Start training! And have fun.
