You've Got This! Making a Successful Transition to Plant-Based Nutrition Part 2

Event Description
You've heard it straight from leaders in the field: Eating a whole-food, plant-based diet can do great things for your health, but let's face it... making the change feels pretty daunting. Whether it's giving up cheese, detoxing your pantry, shopping anxiety, or just knowing how to find recipes, there seem to be so many lifestyle barriers. Never fear! Plant-Powered Metro New York is a community-driven organization that's educating and supporting people from all walks of life in the day-to-day skills that make a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle fun and accessible.
The HealthTree for Multiple Myeloma community is invited to jump into a practical and interactive session with PPMNY Nutrition Educator Kristin Kabay, MS, RD, CSSD. In this session, we'll discuss healthy swaps for ingredients you're probably better off without, adapting recipes, building quick meals, and finding more online resources to support your journey.

Speakers & Moderators

Audrey joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Myeloma Community Program Director in 2020. While not knowing much about myeloma at the start, she has since worked hard to educate herself, empathize and learn from others' experiences. She loves this job. Audrey is passionate about serving others, loves learning, and enjoys a nice mug of hot chocolate no matter the weather.

Kristin Kabay, MS, RD, CSSD is a registered dietitian and nutrition educator for the Plant Powered Metro New York network. As a preteen in the early nineties, Kristin began following a vegetarian diet because she couldn’t stomach the idea of harming animals. While her family didn’t object, they believed it was just a phase she would eventually grow out of. Fast forward over twenty-five years later, and Kristin’s “phase” is anything but. She eventually transitioned to a completely whole food, plant-based diet and even pursued a career as a registered dietitian and lifestyle-as-medicine advocate. In her personal life, Kristin is a life-long athlete and runner. She found her food choices only further propelled her active lifestyle as an endurance athlete and six-time Boston marathoner. Her passion for sports and plant-based eating finally merged, leading her to specialize in sports nutrition and counsel athletes wishing to improve their performance. Today, she is a practicing dietitian and enduring believer in the power of a whole food, plant-based diet to heal and promote health for all.
