Cynthia Cahoon, RN

Cynthia is a newborn ICU nurse by trade that has spent the last six years in the medical device industry educating nurses and doctors about devices that are new to their facility. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, traveling the world with her family, and creating Halloween animatronics for her annual front yard display. She has a passion for life-long learning and enjoys sharing what she learns with the people around her.

Lisa Herms, PhD

Lisa Herms, PhD, is a distinguished leader in healthcare research with a specialization in real-world evidence and oncology. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Real-world Research at Ontada, where she expertly leads a team of research scientists. With a keen focus on study design and execution, she provides senior scientific oversight that propels both innovative study methodologies and strategic growth within the oncology sector. Before her current role, Dr. Herms was a senior scientist at Ontada and ConcertAI, spearheading oncology studies leveraging real-world electronic health records data. Her experience also includes directing global healthcare market research functions. Dr. Herms is particularly passionate about advancing real-world evidence methodologies and producing regulatory-grade insights to improve outcomes for patients. She holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of St. Gallen, a Master’s in International Health Economics/Health Policy from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from American University, focusing on applied microeconomics and health economics.

The panelist Tarun Wasil, MD
Tarun Wasil, MD

Tarun Wasil, MD, is an eminent hematologist-oncologist with years of diverse experience. A native of India, Dr. Wasil began his medical career at Government Medical College, receiving a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree. He completed residencies in surgery and emergency medicine, pathology, and microbiology, and served as Resident Medical Officer and Medical Officer. Before coming to the United States, Dr. Wasil continued his education in Canada, completing an observership in Neurology, Emergency, and Family Medicine. He also worked as a Research Technician for Novopharm Biotech. Dr. Wasil completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident. He completed his Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital and NYU School of Medicine. He served as a clinical investigator for the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Research Consortium and the Cancer & Leukemia Group B and Community for Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) for clinical trials. In addition to research, Dr. Wasil has written numerous publications.

Dr. Ira Zackon

Dr. Ira Zackon is a recently retired Hematologist/Oncologist and past President of New York Oncology Hematology in The US Oncology Network.  He currently serves as a Senior Medical Director with Ontada, focused on Real World Data and Research. Dr. Zackon received his medical degree from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He also completed a research fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Northwestern University Medical Center, Chicago, IL. Dr. Zackon most values time with his wife and two children; he enjoys leisure sports and is an active community volunteer
