Francesca Castro, MS, RD, CDN joins the Nutrition and Wellness Chapter to provide some guidance on what cancer nutritional research we can trust. There is so much information on the internet about what foods are good, what to avoid, what diets work best, and how to live as healthy as possible. In all the noise, it can be hard to know what to pay attention to and what is the most accurate. This session will help us find stillness in the noise and know how best to take care of our nutrition as we go through our myeloma journeys.

Audrey joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Myeloma Community Program Director in 2020. While not knowing much about myeloma at the start, she has since worked hard to educate herself, empathize and learn from others' experiences. She loves this job. Audrey is passionate about serving others, loves learning, and enjoys a nice mug of hot chocolate no matter the weather.
As a level III clinical research dietitian-nutritionist, she focuses on providing whole food, plant-based diet interventions to patients within the Myeloma Service. She joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in December 2021. Her special interests include the impact of dietary choices on both cancer prevention and progression, gastrointestinal microbiome, and evidence-based clinical care. She earned her master’s in nutrition and exercise physiology at Teachers College, Columbia University, and her bachelor’s in biomedical science at the University of Central Florida. She is a registered dietitian-nutritionist with the CDR and has applied to be a certified dietitian-nutritionist in New York state.
