The Mental Journey of Myeloma

Event Description
Learning to live daily with myeloma can be a real challenge emotionally and mentally. Sometimes the mental burden even outweighs the physical challenges of the disease.
Join myeloma patient and certified therapist, Peter Rivkees, as he shares advice on how to live with new side effects, navigate other's reactions to the disease, and allow your inner voice to overcome the fears that often come when diagnosed with myeloma. This diagnosis does not have to define you!

Audrey joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Myeloma Community Program Director in 2020. While not knowing much about myeloma at the start, she has since worked hard to educate herself, empathize and learn from others' experiences. She loves this job. Audrey is passionate about serving others, loves learning, and enjoys a nice mug of hot chocolate no matter the weather.

Peter was diagnosed in January of 2019, and after three chemo attempts received a Stem Cell Transplant in August. After two more failed chemo attempts after the stem cell transplant, he received a CAR-T in August of 2021, and has had great results to date. He is a licensed therapist that is passionate about helping others through a cancer diagnosis.
