About

Jessica Caro, MD, is a hematologist at Northwell Health's R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center. She cares for patients with benign and malignant blood disorders, with a particular focus in multiple myeloma.

Dr. Caro was first introduced to multiple myeloma through a volunteer writing opportunity for a website called The Myeloma Beacon, where she wrote over 130 articles over five years. That experience really sparked my interest in medicine in general and, more specifically, in hematology, Dr. Caro says. I found myeloma particularly compelling because of the rapid pace of research advancements. The number of treatment options available for patients has increased dramatically.

Dr. Caro completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, graduating with honors in chemistry. She went on to work as a high school math and chemistry teacher in Philadelphia before earning her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Caro joined Northwell in 2022, where she serves as the associate program director for the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program and as an assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
