This is a group to support those who have lost someone to blood cancer. This group will be led by Cheryl Petruk who lost her husband to myelofibrosis that transformed to AML, and we will periodically bring in experts such as therapists, social workers and financial planners.
Each of these meetings aim to provide a compassionate space for learning and sharing, as well as offering practical advice and emotional support to those in need.
Topics discussed in this group will include understanding the grieving process, exploring the stages of grief in the context of blood cancer, navigating emotions, coping strategies for bereavement, self-care strategies, memorializing and honoring your loved one, financial considerations, and how to maintain a psychological and emotional connection with your loved one.
