Dr. Nandita Khera, an AML expert from the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, joins the Adult AML Chapter to provide insights on how you as an AML survivor can best be prepared for the challenges this diagnosis brings and how you can make the most of your years of survivorship. Katie joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Community Director for AML in 2021. She is a registered dietitian who previously worked at the VA hospital in Dallas, Texas where she coached veterans with blood cancer on how to use nutrition to improve their treatment outcomes and minimize cancer-related side effects. Katie is passionate about health education and patient empowerment. In her spare time, she loves to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, spend time running outdoors, and travel to new places.
Dr. Khera is a hematologist oncologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. The goal of Dr. Khera's research is to better inform and prepare patients for the psychosocial and financial consequences of treatment irrespective of their sociodemographic profile.
