Dr. El-Jawahri is AML expert from Massachusetts General Hospital who researches ways to improve the lives of acute myeloid leukemia survivors. She will share what she's learned with the Adult AML Chapter on September 27th and teach us how we can effectively cope with this challenging diagnosis. This will be a great time to share your experience as well as learn from others. Come with your questions and comments!

Speakers & Moderators

Katie joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Community Director for AML in 2021. She is a registered dietitian who previously worked at the VA hospital in Dallas, Texas where she coached veterans with blood cancer on how to use nutrition to improve their treatment outcomes and minimize cancer-related side effects. Katie is passionate about health education and patient empowerment. In her spare time, she loves to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, spend time running outdoors, and travel to new places.

Dr. El-Jawahri is a hematologist oncologist at Massachusettes General Hospital and Associate Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She directs the Bone Marrow Transplant Survivorship Program and is Associate Director for the Cancer Outcomes Research and Education Program at Mass General. Her research interests include investigating patient-reported outcomes, enhancing patient-centered decision-making interventions, and designing supportive care interventions to improve the care of patients with hematologic malignancies with a special emphasis on patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
