Introduction to HealthTree's Life After Loss Group

HealthTree’s new Life After Loss group aims to support individuals navigating the difficult journey of grief. This group was created in recognition of the unique challenges faced by those who have lost loved ones. Grief, a deeply personal and often isolating experience, requires a space where emotions can be expressed and shared without judgment. The Life After Loss group exists to offer this space, facilitating connections between individuals who understand the nuanced path of mourning.

The group's foundation is built on the premise that while grief is a universal experience, the way each person encounters and processes it is distinctly personal. The stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance – are not linear, nor are they experienced uniformly by everyone. This understanding is critical in providing empathetic support tailored to each individual's needs.

The Life After Loss group is a testament to the power of collective healing. In sharing stories and experiences, members may find solace in the realization that they are not alone in their journey. The group's meetings and discussions offer strategies and support, not just for those in the depths of their grief but also for those preparing for an imminent loss. This dual approach acknowledges the complexity of grief and the need for support at various stages.

About the Life After Loss Group Leader: Cheryl Petruk

Cheryl is the group’s compassionate leader and moderator. She personally understands the challenges of navigating life after loss, having lost her husband to myelofibrosis that transformed into AML.
