HealthTree Foundation celebrated excellence in blood cancer research by presenting its 2024 HealthTree Awards during a special reception at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting in San Diego this December.

Dr. Rahul Banerjee of Fred Hutch Cancer Center received the inaugural HealthTree Innovation Award for his groundbreaking research on dexamethasone use and cataract severity in multiple myeloma patients. His work has made significant contributions to the "down-with-dex" movement in multiple myeloma care.

"Dr. Banerjee's work exemplifies the best of innovation and collaboration," noted Jay Hydren, HealthTree Senior Director of Research. "His efficient research methods and targeted use of data sets have helped advance treatment standards and improve patient quality of life."

The foundation also recognized several distinguished researchers with HealthTree Research Impact Awards for their outstanding contributions using the HealthTree Cure Hub® Registry:

HealthTree Real-World Data Awards

A special recognition was given to researchers whose work using HealthTree's Real-World Data was accepted for presentation at ASH 2024. These recipients demonstrated the powerful impact of real-world data in advancing scientific discovery:

  • Dr. Malek Ehasan (Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center)
  • Drs. Morie Gertz and Nadine Abdallah (Mayo Clinic)
  • Dr. Craig Hofmeister and Dr. Karen Sweiss (University of Illinois)
  • Dr. Sikander Ailawadhi (Mayo Clinic)
  • Dr. Rahul Banerjee (Fred Hutch Cancer Center)
  • Dr. Manni Mohyuddin (Huntsman Cancer Institute)

"These researchers demonstrate the incredible potential of real-world data to transform blood cancer research and treatment," said Jenny Ahlstrom, CEO and Founder of HealthTree Foundation. "Their work brings us closer to our mission of finding cures through innovative research and collaboration."

The awards ceremony highlighted the growing impact of HealthTree Cure Hub® Registry, which now includes data from over 10,000 multiple myeloma patients and is expanding to lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloproliferative neoplasms, enabling vital research that advances patient care and accelerates the path to cures.
