About

Alejandro Marinos Velarde, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in allogeneic stem cell transplant, myelodysplastic syndrome, myelofibrosis, and acute myeloid leukemia.

Dr. Marinos Velarde earned his medical degree at the Facultad de Medicina Alberto Hurtado, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan; a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston; and a fellowship in stem cell transplant and cellular therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Marinos Velarde’s interests include translational research, clonal evolution of myeloid neoplasms, and understanding alloreactivity to allogeneic cell therapy. He has delivered presentations, contributed to the book Tumor Board Review: Evidence-Based Case Reviews and Questions, and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
