Dr. Giri received her MBBS and MD degrees from the University of Bombay, India, where she also received her initial training in general pediatrics and in pediatric hematology/oncology at Tata Memorial Cancer Center. She completed additional postdoctoral training at the Prince of Wales Children's Hospital in Sydney, Australia, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the NCI Pediatric Oncology Branch. During her tenure at NCI, Dr. Giri worked in the Stem Cell Biology Laboratory of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, where her research interests included the biology of Diamond-Blackfan anemia. Prior to joining the NCI, Dr. Giri was a Staff Physician in the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.
In 2021, Dr. Giri was recognized with the outstanding mentor award at the NCI Staff Scientist and Staff Clinician Retreat. In 2022, she received an NIH Director's Award as part of the NIH COVID Vaccine and Booster Clinic Team.
