Awareness Is Prevention: What Blood Cancer Taught Me About My Health

Event Description

Speakers & Moderators

Mary joined HealthTree in 2022. She is now the AML & MDS Patient Engagement Manager. She is passionate about giving power to patients through knowledge and health education. If she can help one patient feel more confident participating in discussions with their healthcare team and making treatment decisions, she will feel like she has succeeded. When she isn't advocating for patients, she loves being an aunt, attending concerts, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

Kristen lives in the Green Mountains of Vermont with her husband and dog and spends as much time as possible outdoors. She holds a master's degree in Social-Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. She was diagnosed at 30 years old with Acute Myeloid Leukemia while living in New York City at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic in June 2020. Her work as a consultant in the leadership advisory space now ironically focuses on leadership development for healthcare executives including those responsible for delivering care. She received an allogenic stem cell transplant from her older brother in November 2020- thanks Billy.
