Follow-Up Testing and Maintenance Therapy
Last updated on: 3/24/2025
You must visit the office and have blood work done every 3–4 weeks during the first 100 days.
After 100 days post-ASCT, your physician will perform tests to determine how effectively the transplant has reduced your cancer markers. These tests generally comprise:
- Bone marrow biopsy
- 24-hour urine test
- Skeletal survey or CT scans
- Blood work
Depending on your results, your specialist may suggest a maintenance therapy, which often includes an immunodulatory agent or IMiD (such as lenalidomide/Revlimid) and steroids (like dexamethasone). Some immunotherapies and other novel agents are also being incorporated as maintenance therapies. Learn more about maintenance and if it might be a good option for you in the video below:
At the one-year mark post-ASCT, you can expect a comprehensive evaluation with scans and blood tests.
