Dr. Prithviraj Bose from MD Anderson Cancer Center discusses momelotinib (Ojara), a JAK inhibitor approved in 2023 that actually improves anemia in myelofibrosis patients—unlike older JAK inhibitors that can make anemia worse.

WHAT IS MOMELOTINIB?
A newer JAK inhibitor therapy for myelofibrosis. Unique benefit: Improves anemia. Approved September 2023.

KEY FINDINGS:
In clinical trials, momelotinib worked best when started earlier in the disease. Patients with intermediate-stage disease saw better responses than those with more advanced disease. This suggests starting treatment sooner may help patients live better with fewer side effects.
