What is ruxolitinib?

Ruxolitinib was the first JAK2 inhibitor to be approved for myelofibrosis patients by the United States Food and Drug Administration back in 2011. The clinical trials that investigated the use of ruxolitinib were the Comfort One and Comfort Two clinical trials.

What they looked at was two things for the patients with myelofibrosis. Number one is spleen size reduction, and number two is reduction in symptoms. Ruxolitinib was found to be highly effective in reducing these two very key points in the quality of life of patients with myelofibrosis.

So patients that experienced any of these symptoms, I do consider for frontline ruxolitinib. And I do believe that there's a chance that they would benefit from starting this oral therapy.
