Are you new to AML or finding yourself getting lost in all of the complex medical information out there? If you are a patient or a caregiver experiencing any stage of AML, we invite you to join us to learn from a top panel of AML experts who will teach you the essential things you need to know to best manage this diagnosis. This Round Table will cover an in depth explanation of what AML is, how and why AML treatment should be personalized and effective ways for you as a patient or caregiver to make educated decisions about your care in collaboration with your medical team. At the end, there will be extensive time for you to have your questions answered directly by the experts. Whether you are newly diagnosed or simply need help clearing up the confusion, this is an event you won't want to miss!

Katie Braswell
Dallas, Texas

Katie joined the HealthTree Foundation as the Community Director for AML in 2021. She is a registered dietitian who previously worked at the VA hospital in Dallas, Texas where she coached veterans with blood cancer on how to use nutrition to improve their treatment outcomes and minimize cancer-related side effects. Katie is passionate about health education and patient empowerment. In her spare time, she loves to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, spend time running outdoors, and travel to new places.

The panelist Gabriel Mannis, MD
Gabriel Mannis, MD
Palo Alto, CA

Dr. Mannis is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology at Stanford University School of Medicine, and Medical Director of Stanford’s Inpatient Leukemia Service. He specializes in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and other hematologic malignancies. As a clinical scientist, Dr. Mannis divides his time between caring for patients, teaching trainees, and researching novel therapies for AML and MDS.

The panelist Pamela Becker, MD, PhD
Pamela Becker, MD, PhD
Duarte, California

Dr. Becker is an AML physician-researcher whos research focuses on a specific mechanism by which acute myeloid leukemia resists chemotherapy. She also studies precision medicine approaches for treating blood cancers. She has a medical degree through the joint Harvard Medical School-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Health Sciences and Technology Program alongside a PhD in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University.

Dan Pollyea, MD, MS
Aurora, Colorado

Dr. Pollyea is the Clinical Director of Leukemia Services at UCHealth Blood Disorders and Cell Therapies Center in Colorado. He has served as the Principal Investigator of multiple early-phase clinical trials, and has received funding for his work from the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has over 80 peer-reviewed publications and has spoken at many national and international meetings.
