About

Carole B. Miller, MD, is a medical oncologist at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Miller has a passion for oncology research and community service, and she has made a profound contribution to both of these pursuits in her long career. Dr. Miller came to Ascension Saint Agnes in 2002 to become Director of the Cancer Institute, and has since built the program’s research involvement to more than 30 ongoing clinical trials, many of which have led to important breakthroughs in medical oncology. She is particularly proud of her early work with Gleevac at Hopkins, now widely used as a treatment for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), which led to a broad research program of targeted therapy for blood disorders at Ascension Saint Agnes. Following the model developed by Dr. Diana Griffiths for the Breast Center, Dr. Miller led the development of the Cancer Institute into a renowned multidisciplinary program, with both American Society of Clinical Oncology, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certification and a Certificate of Excellence from the Commission on Cancer. She also led the recent expansion of the Cancer Institute in the Angelos Medical Pavilion. She founded the Baltimore Blood Club for oncologists and hematologists and works with the American Society of Hematology and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to educate community physicians and patients.
