The HealthTree Challenge: Hike + Wellness event is a three-day experience that brings people together to focus on wellness, connection, and raising support for blood cancer research.

What to expect during the event

This event takes place from October 15 to 17, 2026, in Vail, Colorado. It is open to people living with blood cancer, caregivers, and supporters. The event includes:

  • A welcome dinner to meet your team
  • A full day of wellness activities like yoga, meditation, and nutrition sessions
  • A guided hike through the Rocky Mountains
  • A closing celebration dinner

These activities are led by experts and designed to support both physical and mental health.

A focus on wellness and support

During the wellness summit on the second day, participants can try activities like:

These approaches support overall well-being. For people with blood cancer, staying active and managing stress can help improve daily comfort, energy levels, and emotional health.

The final day includes a full-day hike. The trail offers different levels of intensity. This helps participants move at a pace that feels right for them while still taking part in the shared experience.

Training and fundraising help

Participants commit to raising $3,000 to support blood cancer research. Support is built into the program to help make this goal more manageable. Participants receive:

  • 8 virtual team meetings
  • A 12-week training plan
  • Ongoing emails with tips and preparation guidance
  • A personalized fundraising page and toolkit

This structure helps build confidence over time. The training plan supports physical readiness, while the fundraising tools provide clear steps to reach the goal.

Connection that goes beyond the event

In last year’s 2025 HealthTree Challenge, the group included patients, caregivers, friends, and even a blood cancer specialist. This mix created a strong sense of community.

Spending time together outdoors and working toward a shared goal can help reduce feelings of isolation. It also creates opportunities to share experiences and learn from others who understand life with blood cancer.

Many participants leave with lasting connections that continue after the event.

How to get involved

You can join as an individual or as part of a team. There is also an option to support the event through sponsorship.

Taking part helps raise awareness and funding for research while also giving you time to focus on your own health and well-being.
