What is the role of the immune system in a myeloma patient? So we did a study a couple years ago now that showed that when we compared patients after transplant who did well versus those who did not do as well, we found that the patients seem to have a higher proportion of cells that were more exhausted or senescent. T-cell senescence is the most extreme form of T-cell exhaustion where the cell has completely shut down and is no longer able to respond. And that is what we found is that in the more extreme cases where patients did not do as well, they seem to have a higher degree of that in their circulating T-cells that we were able to measure.
