Multidisciplinary approaches to improve prognosis prediction | Claudio Cerchione, MD, PhD

Hello, I am Claudio Certione. I work in Istituto Romagnolo per lo Sto de la cura dei tumori di Namador in Meldola, northern part of Italy. And it's a pleasure today to focus about the novelties in multiple meloma from March 2025 in Orlando. In last year's, we have seen an incredible therapeutic revolution in multiple meloma, where it's time to understand how to optimize these treatments. And in my institution, IRST in Meldola, northern part of Italy, we are conducting a multiomic study in which we are combining the molecular profilation of our patients according to gene expression profiling performed with the Sky 92 panel, together with the new generation imaging, combining the PET CT with the FTG, together with the whole body MRI, 3 tesla, to all our consecutive patients, together with other metabolic, radiomic characteristics, we are aiming to design a prognostic score which aims to understand which are the biomarkers of response and to optimize the treatment according to the data that we have seen from the clinical trials of last year. In this Ash 2025, we present an update of our molecular data. We have seen in last conferences also the imaging data. The next step will be to combine these ones according to artificial intelligence and to new tools to understand if it is time maybe to propose a prognostic score. In this moment, this is a mono-institutional study, but we are aiming to design a network, a national network, in order to combine our data with the ones of the main institutions in multiple meloma in my country, and why not to develop also an international study according to preliminary data. The real objective is to understand which is the best patients for any drug or combination and to optimize the use of the treatments that we have seen approved in last years. This is something that can help us to, in some way, obtain from all the treatments 100% of response, and this is the best that can in some way correlate with the cure of multiple meloma. And this is the best wish that I give every day to our patients, to their caregiver, and to all meloma researchers.
