How are overall strategies developed for patients with myeloma?

I think this is actually one of the most interesting and exciting parts of being a doctor for patients with myeloma, because it's where you really begin to get to know patients and can begin to tweak things, to make the treatments work for them.

So I'm a transplanter, and I think that transplanter has a really a role for patients who are fit with myeloma.

But because myeloma spans such a broad range of ages, and patients come with a whole host of life experiences that can be sort of bad ones with the medical community or have never had any medical problems at all, and are really robust.

You can sit down and talk with them about the right plan for them.

Generally speaking, I like to be aggressive. I like to try to use multidrug regimens to try to really get the disease controlled quickly and keep it controlled for as long as I can.

And I talk a lot about getting the disease into as deeper response as I can get it and keep it there as long as possible, while not sickening patients as best I can so that they can tolerate the ongoing therapy necessary to keep them both alive longer and alive, better.
