I'm Dr. Jim Berenson, medical and scientific director of the Institute for Myeloma and Bone Cancer Research in West Hollywood, California. It's my pleasure to share with you work we're presenting tonight at ASH regarding what happens to patients with myeloma who are triple refractory. What that means is they've actually been exposed to immunomodulatory agents like lytalidomide, proteasome inhibitors like bortizomid or carfilzomid, and also antibodies like elotuzomid or drugs like daratumomet or ezentuximab. What we've been seeing over the last few years is supposedly their outcomes are very, very poor. That's not what we're actually seeing in our clinic. These patients have a relatively good outlook now. They can get lots of other new treatments and they can even go back to the treatments that they got before, combined in novel ways with other agents leading to long responses. The survival of these patients is much different than it was in reports from just a few years ago. Very encouraging data and we think that's going to be really helpful to patients to know that.
