Jean Becker
I was diagnosed in late 2011, at the age of 54, after a few years of weird labs. I went through "standard" induction (RVD), responded well, and had an autologous stem cell transplant in 2012 (outpatient). I was on REVLIMID maintenance for about 8 years, in a very good remission, until two years ago. It was slow, and I tried to get into a CAR-T clinical trial, but didn't qualify at the last minute, so after the bones took another big hit, I am now in ongoing treatment with Isatuximab (infusion), pomalyst, and dex. I worked throughout the entire treatment/process, except for 5 months for the transplant, as an educator of children. My husband is a great caregiver, and I have been in a support group of some sort, since after the transplant. I am recently retired, which was planned pre-covid, but now is impacted by the active cancer and covid, as many are. Looking for another remission, but glad to know there are so many new treatments approved for us.
