Cynthia is a newborn ICU nurse by trade that has spent the last six years in the medical device industry educating nurses and doctors about devices that are new to their facility. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, traveling the world with her family, and creating Halloween animatronics for her annual front yard display. She has a passion for life-long learning and enjoys sharing what she learns with the people around her.
Dr. Gliceida Galarza Fortuna
Dr. Gliceida Galarza Fortuna is a third-year fellow at the University of Utah. She grew up in Santiago, Dominican Republic, around a family of physicians. Having always been interested in science and medicine, the decision to become a physician was an easy one. Dr. Galarza is primarily interested in plasma cell disorders, with a special interest in high-risk multiple myeloma and cellular therapies. Her research efforts have been presented in multiple national conferences such as ASCO, ASH and Tandem Meetings of Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Dr. Galarza is currently serving as the Hematology and Oncology Chief Fellow and has been selected to participate in the 2024 AACR/ASCO Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, spending time with her Boston terrier (Nora), and being outdoors in general. During the pandemic, she started running and has since completed several races in Florida, including the Miami Marathon in 2023.
