Drs. Cowan and Callander join the MGUS/Smoldering Myeloma community to share with us the nationwide ECOG/SWOG clinical trial, ECOG DETER SMM in which a Dara Rd regimen is being compared to Rd treatment across the nation for smoldering myeloma treatment.

As many of you, we remain hopeful with the amount of accelerated research being done in the smoldering and precursor myeloma fields.

Natalie Callander, MD

Dr. Natalie Callander is a faculty member in Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is the Director of the UW Carbone Cancer Center Myeloma Clinical Program, Vice Chair of the NCCN Myeloma Committee, and Interim Director of Bone Marrow Transplant. She is a member of the NCI Myeloma Steering Committee and the ECOG Myeloma Committee She has received three UW Health Patient Experience Physician Champion Awards, named to Best Doctors in America list since 2004, a Madison Magazine Top Doctor three times, and received the Chuck Koval Award for Excellence in Myeloma presented by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Andrew J Cowan, MD

Dr. Andrew Cowan is a hematologist-oncologist who specializes in treating patients with multiple myeloma and other blood disorders. He leads clinical trials of new treatments for these diseases, including the use of engineered immune cells, combination strategies and genomics data. An expert in trial design, Dr. Cowan evaluates research proposals as a member of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Scientific Review Committee.
