Description

Dr. Lucia Masarova from MD Anderson Cancer Center presents data from the SURPASS-ET study, demonstrating the efficacy and safety of ropeginterferon alfa-2b compared to anagrelide in patients with essential thrombocythemia (ET).

STUDY OVERVIEW:
Second-line randomized study comparing ropeginterferon alfa-2b (novel injectable interferon) to anagrelide (standard oral therapy) in high-risk ET patients who previously received hydroxyurea.

KEY FINDINGS - ORIGINAL STUDY:
Ropeginterferon showed superior disease control with better platelet and white blood cell count management and improved symptom control.

KEY FINDINGS - CROSSOVER ANALYSIS:
Patients switched from anagrelide to ropeginterferon achieved 30% modified response within 3 months, with disease control improving in more than double the patients compared to anagrelide alone.

SAFETY PROFILE:
Ropeginterferon demonstrates similar or superior safety profile with no new safety concerns identified.
