Speakers & Moderators
David Swoboda, M.D. is a member of the Hematologic Malignancies Program at Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Prior to joining TGH, Dr. Swoboda served as the chief hematology/oncology fellow at Moffitt Cancer Center and chief resident at Georgetown University Hospital He is actively involved in the care of patients with acute leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) in addition to serving as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials in these diseases. Dr. Swoboda’s research focuses on the genetic drivers and inflammatory significant of myeloid malignancies. He has presented his work at numerous national conferences and has several first author publications in top-tier journals including Leukemia and American Journal of Hematology.
Dr Tony Kurian is a Hematologist/Oncologist at Florida Cancer Specialists caring for patients in Venice and Englewood, Florida. He completed Internal Medicine training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago where he served as Chief Resident and went on to train in Hematology & Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center where he served as a Chief Fellow and completed additional training and Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy. He currently works as a community Hematologist & Medical Oncologist treating a broad range of hematologic and oncologic conditions to meet the needs of the local community he serves. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters enjoying local beaches and parks or catching a Buccaneers, Lightning, Rays, or USF game.
Mary joined HealthTree in 2022. She is now the AML & MDS Community and Education Manager. She is passionate about giving power to patients through knowledge and health education. If she can help one patient feel more confident participating in discussions with their healthcare team and making treatment decisions, she will feel like she has succeeded. When she isn't advocating for patients, she loves being an aunt, attending concerts, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
