What specifically in the sample is measured in order to determine MRD status?

What specifically in the sample is measured in order to determine MRD status? So what's measured in MRD, that also depends on the specific test. So one of the most common ways that we look for MRD is a test called flow cytometry. And flow cytometry is just a special type of test that looks for certain proteins on the leukemia cells, and it can look for them at very low levels. And so often what we do is we take the initial bone marrow sample in the original leukemia and look for some of the abnormalities that were present on the original sample, and then we'll be looking in the remission bone marrows to see if we can detect any more of those abnormalities using flow cytometry. And these again are just proteins on the surface of the leukemia cells. There are other tests that look at more DNA, so we can look for specific mutations or other specific abnormalities in the DNA that might have been present at baseline at the initial leukemia sample. We'll also be looking for those in the remission samples as a measure of MRD.
