When might a transplant be considered in MDS? High risk. The transplant is shown to be beneficial in high risk patients. We are an MDS center of excellence here. Whenever we see a new MDS patient, we do discuss about transplant in the first visit. We need to know what the patient's goals are, but it should be considered at the beginning of the treatment. If they are eligible, if they have a donor, they should be referred to a transplant evaluation as soon as possible.
