When should a patient consider changing therapy? There are two reasons one should change their therapy. If it's not working, which should be obvious. If it's a therapy where the therapy seems to be worse than the disease. So what do I mean by that? If someone's on a maintenance therapy that they're taking and the therapy is producing such bad side effects that they can't get out of bed, and because it's a maintenance therapy that's been given for a long period of time, that's probably not a great choice for that person. So changing treatments comes down to is the treatment working and can I handle the side effects? And your doctor will help you handle the side effects. There are various maneuvers, medications, things that can be done to help manage side effects.
