Is the COVID-19 vaccine safe for AML patients? We typically are recommending that all our patients be vaccinated. Certainly with the seasonal flu vaccine, there's no reason not to get that. With the COVID vaccine, obviously we have less information about how effective it is in our patients. It's likely, and I think there are some early data that's inpatient or dangerous. The only thing I would recommend in terms of checking with your doctor would be about the platelet count. This is an intramuscular injection, and for patients that have very low platelets, an injection into the muscle could cause a big bruise or some bleeding. And so I think it's just important to make sure with your doctor that your platelet count is high enough, but I would certainly recommend proceeding with COVID vaccination. What should my platelet count be in order to get an intramuscular injection? It's sort of controversial. Some people will say you have to have a platelet count above 50. I think the data around that are not great, but in general, we try to have platelet count at least above 20,000, preferably above 50,000, to receive an intramuscular injection.
