What steps do pediatric patients and their families need to take to prepare for a bone marrow transplant?

I think the biggest thing that any patient and child can do to prepare for a transplant is have a lot of conversations with their transplant team about what that transplant is going to look like and what things they anticipate for them afterwards.

Every single transplant is in a unique situation. While they may look very similar, each case is fairly unique because the donor and the recipient pairs are very different. The best thing families can do is make sure they come well prepared. They should read any educational materials given by their transplant team, as well as relevant literature that may raise additional questions.

Have those conversations with your transplant team, who are able to tailor the information to exactly how your transplant will look.
