I recently had my blood tested for lipids. My total cholesterol was 187 but my LDL was 92. The cardiologist recommended I go on statins, which I wasn't expecting when I saw my total was well below 200., especially when in the past I was 210 to 220 regularly. My big concern about statins is side effects. Some of the most common are low platelets, pain, diarrhea, fatigue, mental fog, and leg cramps. I have all these now! I understand everyone is different, but am looking for some wisdom from those who have faced this decision or who were in my position and decided to go on statins. Am I being too overconcerned?
