I am in contact with a patient who was just diagnosed with Dermatomyocytis (the kind that causes interstitial lung disease/fibrosis that is extremely hard to treat and with a poor prognosis. The treatment for that disease is harmful to Myeloma patients. Likewise, treating myeloma is harmful for Dermatomyositis (ILD) patients. The combination is rare. Any suggestions? She has an appointment with Johns Hopkins on January 22nd, which was made prior to receiving this news.
