In the beginning we thought maybe it's just unspecified inflammatory reactions, these cells that are so activated, they just secrete a number of factors and then myeloma cells will be killed along the way, along with many other cells. Now we know that that's not the case. We know now that this is the way CAR T cells kill tumor cells. It's very comparable to the way they kill cells infected by a virus, for example. They bind to the cell using their receptor, in that case of a CAR T cell, it's an antibody receptor expressed on the surface. They will bind to the cell and then secrete certain molecules that will lead to cell death on the side of the tumor cell as well. So it's a very specific and also very localized way of killing tumor cells.
