I was very busy in a rewarding commercial photography career, when, in 2013, I was diagnosed with MM, something I had never heard of, and certainly never considered. That year became a blur as the specialists at MD Anderson in Houston escorted me through the complex, and sometimes tedious, process of controlling the cancer enough to perform a successful autologous stem cell transplant. After transplant, I stayed engaged in work and remained active in exercise and a healthy diet. I really felt good, and remained positive about my future. Then, in April of 2021, I re-entered treatment in relapse. I was instantly amazed at the new and elegant treatments available for MM patients, giving way to a rewarding and comfortable life. Again, my cancer was brought under control, and today I see the bright blessing of a future where my wife and I can now consider the freedom of pursuing all we want to do, not have to do. As of 2024, I have had four instances of relapse, and have undergone a CAR-T clinical trial, and endured lesions in my ribs, and suffered a severe spinal fracture event. The CAR-T therapy has proven successful so far, and I am undergoing a lengthy and promising series of treatments to regain structural integrity in my vertebrae. It's been an amazing adventure that has brought me to this point, and I have no wishes that things were different. Never forget God's love for you, and remember also that faith replaces fear! I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in June 2024. I was able to find specialists in Multiple Myeloma at the City of Hope and began treatment there in July 2024. I received a stem cell transplant in December of 2024, and have been healing ever since. My biggest challenge was the distance to my specialists, then coupled with the anxiety of having a stem cell transplant. My family was there to pick me up. I realized haw critical their support would be.

I was a caregiver from my husband for two years. He had AML. I went to all of his appointments and looked up many things online just to try to find out more and to be able to ask intuitive questions. Knowledge is powerful and helps us to get through many things once we understand more about a situation.My husband also had diabetes and COPD and we needed to balance that with his treatments. I helped him as an advocate when he needed it, especially with the veterans administration. I would love to help you find the answers you are looking for. I understand the struggle with AML and I’m very happy to be a part of this organization to be able to reach out to you and help you with any of your needs from helping with a new diagnosis, to helping you understand more about the disease and to help you navigate the website to find the answers you’re looking for. Although I do not have AML I was my husband’s support system. I love to exercise, read, go to live theater and concerts, and do wine tasting dinners. I enjoy life.
