Bortezomib-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Multiple Myeloma: A Research Roundtable on Patient Experiences and Long-Term Impact
We send a recording to all registered participants of the event!
Join us for an informative and supportive roundtable designed for multiple myeloma patients and caregivers as we share critical findings from a recent patient-centered research study on bortezomib-induced peripheral neuropathy (BIPN). Led by study investigators Dr. Rafael Fonseca, Dr. Valentina Cardenas, Jay Hydren, PhD, from the HealthTree Foundation, alongside patient participants, this session focuses on understanding the lived patient experience and daily functional impact of neuropathy. Rather than viewing neuropathy as merely a temporary or easily managed side effect, the discussion highlights real-world evidence showing that BIPN is frequently long-lasting or permanent, even with modern weekly and subcutaneous dosing.
Grounded in authentic patient voices and survey data from over 300 individuals, the panel will explore how nerve symptoms intersect with mobility, sleep, independence, and overall quality of life. The conversation will examine the hidden day-to-day challenges (such as balance issues, fear of falling, and career changes) while addressing the gaps in clinician symptom grading, anticipatory counseling, and the role of alternative proteasome inhibitors. Whether you are navigating neuropathy yourself, preparing for treatment, or supporting a loved one, you will gain practical insights and vocabulary to help you feel empowered during conversations with your care team.
