Story

Richard was diagnosed in 2015 with three young children at home. He has faced myeloma with hope, optimism, faith and generosity. From the beginning, he wanted to give patients hope during treatment. He wanted to distract them from their cancer while giving the patients something to enjoy during treatment. Richard gathered donations from local business owners and hosted a raffle twice a week during his treatment. Richard would spend time with the other patients in the infusion room, learning their stories. He would offer hope and encouragement to all those that he would meet. The raffle days became something for many (including Richard) to look forward to and a distraction from the unknown as a result of a cancer diagnosis. He created the Myeloma Crowd Cycling club to raise awareness for myeloma, inspire myeloma patients to become active and raise money for research. He "Biked the Coast", riding 100 miles a day over 6 days spanning from San Francisco to San Diego, CA in an effort to raise funds for a cure. He lives every minute to the fullest and is constantly looking for opportunities to elevate himself and others. He is determined to be around to watch his kids grow up and play with his future grandkids. These goals keep him focused on raising money for research to fund a CURE.
